Dealer Record of Sale (DROS) Store Policies

We deliver the firearm within the timeframe allowed by the DROS application.
Wait. We are not given any reason for the delay.
Either you are trying to do more than 1 in 30 or there is a DMV issue. We will issue a full refund (minus DROS fees) UNLESS the customer requests we run DROS after 1 in 30 and/or DMV issues are resolved.
We will issue a refund minus the 20% restocking fee and minus DROS fees.
WE DO NOT DELIVER ON UNDETERMINED. We will issue a full refund (minus DROS fees) UNLESS the customer requests one of the following: (1) Re-run DROS. We charge the DROS fees and run the application again. We will only do this one time. If Undetermined a second time a Live Scan or Refund are the only options. (2) Wait for Live Scan results. Customer will get a live scan done and will return with a clean scan.

Examples of "other" acceptable proof of residency:

  • Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit.
  • Certificate of Eligibility (COE.)
  • Curio and Relic (C&R) Federal Firearms License (03 FFL) with name and address.
  • Current DMV Disabled Placard.
  • Current DMV Registrations.
  • Electricity, gas, cable bill with purchaser's name on it from within the last 3 months.
  • Resident Hunting License issued by Department of Fish and Wildlife
  • Fishing License: Commercial, Resident Sport, Lifetime, 1, 2, and 10 day licenses issued by the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
  • Signed, dated and notarized rental agreement/contract.
Examples of documents that are NOT acceptable proof of residency:
  • Active Duty Military Spouse ID.
  • Bank Statement.
  • Brown Card.
  • Cellular Phone bill.
  • Fishing Validations and Report Cards.
  • Hunting license- Standard, Self-Filled.

IF FED LIMITS APPLY:

  • Valid, unexpired U.S. passport or passport card
  • Certifed copy of U.S. birth certifcate
  • U.S. Certifcate or Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen
  • Valid, unexpired foreign passport with valid U.S. immigrant visa and approved Record of Arrival/Departure (I-94) form
  • Certifed copy of birth certifcate from a U.S. Territory
  • Certifcate of Naturalization or U.S. Citizenship
  • Valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”)

Any Firearm purchase with incorrect address on ID will require AN ADDITIONAL Government Issued document with the correct address.

I want to buy a handgun, I'm over 21, where do I start?

Do you have a CA Identification Card (ID) or Drivers License (DL)?
-You will need a valid, unexpired CA ID or DL. -If your ID is not a "REAL ID" see the section "My ID says Federal Limits Apply". -If your address on your ID/DL does is not current see the section "My Address on my ID is not correct".
Do you have a hunting license or Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) card?
To purchase a handgun in CA you need to have a Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) card or a current, unexpired hunting license with your current address on it. Do I need anything else besides my ID/DL and a hunting license or FSC card?
YES! You will need an additional proof of residency besides the FSC or hunting license.

Can I still buy a firearm?
Yes! But besides the standard paperwork needed to purchase a firearm you will need to provide AN ADDITIONAL GOVERNMENT ISSUED document with the correct address.

My ID says Federal Limits Apply

What does that mean?
The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) currently issues two types of California driver licenses and identification cards: “REAL ID” and “FEDERAL LIMITS APPLY”. An applicant for a “FEDERAL LIMITS APPLY” driver license or identification card is not necessarily required to provide proof to DMV of lawful presence in the country.
What does that mean if I want to buy a firearm?
You will need to bring one of the following as well as your ID: -Valid, unexpired U.S. passport or passport card. -Certified copy of U.S. birth certificate. -U.S. Certificate or Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen. -Valid, unexpired foreign passport with valid U.S. immigrant visa and approved Record of Arrival/Departure (I-94) form. -Certified copy of birth certificate from a U.S. Territory. -Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. Citizenship. -Valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”).
